The beauty industry has come a long way, and it’s not just advances in ingredients and formulations that improve our experience. Over the last several years we continue to be introduced to incredible technology, with beauty tools that allow us to pamper and treat ourselves to experiences, and benefits, previously only attainable at a spa or salon. Not only that, there are even gadgets  available that make our skincare products more effective. Let’s take a look and some fantastic, and affordable, beauty tech tools that will step up your skincare game.

I’m going to start out with my favorite new beauty tool. The Bliss Climate Control Spa-Powered Skin Conditioning Wand ($169 CAD) is one of the coolest home gadgets I’ve seen. It offers cooling and heating as well as sonic vibrations. Changes in temperature can affect how your skin interacts with different skincare products. The heat mode boosts absorption while the cold mode shrinks pores and reduces puffiness and redness. How perfect is that for your undereye area in the morning! No more cold spoons or putting your eye cream in the fridge! The sonic vibration mode offers an invigorating massage and boosts circulation. I am in love with this thing. It almost instantly switches from hot to cold and you really can feel it. I was skeptical of how cooling it could really be, but it is! The kit comes with the Climate Control Facial Wand, charging cord, and a 0.5 oz Triple Oxygen Energizing Vitamin C Day Cream. All with a cute storage pouch.

I’m sure you’ve probably heard of the benefits of gently tapping your eye cream onto your eye area. It boosts circulation and helps relieve puffiness. Well the new FOREO IRIS Illuminating Eye Massager ($139 US/$159 CAD) takes things to a new level by offering “Alternating T-Sonic Technology” to give a gentle, yet stimulating, massage to the eye area. There are two modes, Pure and Spa. Pure mimics gentle finger tapping with Finger Pulse technology, while the Spa mode combines the Finger Pulse technology with delicate pulsations. This wand will aid product absorption as well as help reduce the appearance of puffiness, bags, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles. It comes in a variety of beautiful colours with a charger and pouch for storage.

Another product that I am loving is the RejuvadermMD Handheld Microdermabrasion System ($199 US). I have only had microdermabrasion done at a spa a couple of times, because of lack of funds, time, and accessibility, so having a system I can use at home is so welcome. Now I just need to somehow get myself to remember to use it more regularly so I can start seeing some amazing results. In clinical studies they saw significant reduction in nasolabial and periorbital wrinkles, pore size, and sun damage. That is all stuff I need! I am really impressed with how sophisticated this device is. It offers four levels of suction, so even someone with really sensitive skin like myself can use it.

It comes with an exfoliating diamond tip (which is what you would be accustomed to from spa microdermabrasion treatments), as well as an extraction tip for removal of blackheads and cleaning out pores, as well as and infusion tip for infusing serums and creams deep into the skin after a microdermabrasion treatment (I love this part!). The kit also comes with a large supply of the wool filters for microdermabrasion.

I absolutely love powered foot files and I have a new favorite. The new Bliss Achilles’ Heel Spa-Powered Heel Smoother ($49 CAD) takes care of the biggest problem will all the other powered foot files on the market… the mess! This powered heel smoother has a two-speed rotating disc that gently remove rough, dry, and callused skin. There is also a buffing attachment with lots of replacement buffing pads included. Apply it with a little pressure to your heels and soles and watch your feet become baby smooth. The best part, all your icky foot shavings are captured within the tool itself in a reservoir! The kit includes the Achilles’ Heel Smoother Tool with exfoliating and buffing discs, as well as the required batteries, and a 1 oz. Bliss Foot Patrol AHA Exfoliating & Softening Cream.

If you suffer from acne then a great tool to try out is the reVive Light Therapy® Essentials Acne Treatment ($49 US). I have heard such great things about light therapy and I really must get around to trying a red light therapy system targeted at anti-aging. The reVive Acne therapy penetrates deep into the skin to target and destroy bacteria that cause acne flare-ups and other skin conditions. It is the most affordable FDA-cleared light therapy device on the market and includes 24 powerful, medical grade, acne treatment LED lights in a portable, handheld device. The system comes with the device, as well as 3 different power source options (110v power supply, USB power source, and 3 AA batteries). It also comes with optional protective goggles.
